NVC Mediation Process Workshop:

This workshop is for anyone who is open and curious to learn about mediation, no experience is required.

In this workshop I will teach the fundamentals of Non-violent Communication in their most integral form. Together, we will explore effective and efficient ways of getting to the heart of the matter in interpersonal conflict. My goal is that you leave this workshop with a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of spontaneous mediation in your relationships as well as how to use NVC in intentional conflict resolution.

All relationships, from family, friends, lovers, and in business, can benefit from the mindful use of mediation.

On the path, this will involve learning to clearly differentiate between: our emotions, universal needs and individual strategies behind them, crystal clear observations, and our interpretations/narratives. This knowledge starts to reveal the power of clear communication.

We will explore how we can integrate mediation as a life practice that enriches life for ourselves and our relations in a meaningful way every day. We will work with the 4 agreements, modern styles in negotiation, and Buddhism. Eventually as we discover, things are much simpler than they seem with NVC!

That being said, mediation is not always an easy or lighthearted process. By its nature it challenges us to confront our triggers directly, deconstruct our own problematic communication patterns, and work towards deeper access to our emotions than we might be used to. Connecting to these parts of ourselves will be hard, at times.

When taken as a life practice, mediation processes such as NVC represent the natural evolution of human relationship to the highest level of responsibility that each person can take for themselves in any given dynamic. In doing so, we take steps towards correct boundaries in ourselves and for all our relations – (using ‘correct’ in the Buddhist sense, meaning it goes towards what is wholesome and wise). In the end, they are not really separate from mindfulness in action and once integrated they cease the need for any label at all.

On a lighthearted note – I will use games and exercises from my Theatre background to get us moving and to keep the learning playful. If you are open to it I think you will most certainly have some fun!

Fee for the workshop is based on a sliding scale: $80 – $120 to register. No one turned away due to lack of funds, please contact me directly if you want to attend but can’t afford the fee. Email me at wasontiio@gmail.com
